2022 Inductee Mark Johnson

For setting the gold standard of excellence at KTVB and inspiring us to be relevant, empower others, to lead by example, and build a stronger community. Thank you for 30 years of leadership at KTVB Idaho’s News Channel 7 and four decades of dedication to broadcast journalism.

Mark Johnson’s 40 career in local television news and sports has taken him to seven countries, earned him a National Edward R. Murrow and Emmy award, plus countless state broadcast reporting awards.

But it's the work he provided for hundreds of non-profit organizations in the four communities he served that Mark considers his biggest accomplishment. His efforts on camera, on social media and behind the scenes helped raise millions for local charity organizations serving families in the markets Mark worked. Most notably in the 30 combined years spent in Boise, Idaho.

Mark’s professional highlights include covering the 1996 Super Bowl, five Olympic games and many major championships in all sports. In 2003, he was named KTVB’s main male news anchor after working as a sports anchor/reporter at stations in Cape Girardeau, MO, Milwaukee and Pittsburgh for the previous 22 years.

In 2007, Mark landed an exclusive interview with U.S. Senator Larry Craig after the Idaho politician’s scandal drew national attention. He covered a number of stories in Washington, D.C. during the confirmation hearings of former Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne for a cabinet position under President George W. Bush, as well as producing an award-winning documentary on a day in the life of Senator Jim Risch.

Now, in retirement, the Missouri Tiger grad enjoys hanging out with his two sets of twin daughters (and grandson!) playing golf, guitar and piano, and riding e-bikes with his wife of 30 years, the love of his life, Chrissy.
