2022 - Inductee Liz Serrette

Thank you for your 30 years of service, leadership, and vision within the Northwest regional sports production community. Your presence allowed fans to connect with their teams and reminded us all just how fun sports television can be.

When Liz Serrette started her job with NW Cable Sports in 1989, it was hard for her to imagine the impact she would have on the way sports are viewed in the Northwest. After all, most local college and professional sports were rarely, if ever, televised. Over the years, Liz helped turn the tides so that almost EVERY game would be available to fans from the comfort of their own homes.

Over the years, in addition to racking up multiple NW Emmy Awards, Liz helped the network move from carrying no Mariners games, to carrying EVERY game, every season. Transitioning to high-definition production and adding technology like Super-Mo cameras to games make the viewing experience at home almost better than being in the ballpark.

Liz’s impact on our community extends beyond helping the network add game count and technology-she created a tight-knit community of television production professionals who come together each night to produce games on the network. Technicians such as camera operators, replay operators, audio and video technicians, technical directors, and utilities. There are hundreds of people who Liz helped bring into the network who not only made an impact on ROOT SPORTS, but on the television industry in our region.

More recently, with the successful launch of the Seattle Kraken and addition of the Portland TrailBlazers, Liz helped the network create a second channel, ROOT SPORTS PLUS. She navigated the network through the pandemic, a time when live sports disappeared for months, leaving the channel with hundreds of hours to fill.

Away from work, Liz helps with local charities, including the Snow Leopard Trust and the Seattle Children's Hospital. Liz enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, participating in many outdoor activities, and has added a new hobby of starting a vineyard with her husband.
