Jacques Pugh

Jacques Pugh is a Media educator with notable experience in broadcast journalism, documentary production, and playwriting. Jacques presently teaches Video Production and Media Literacy at Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington.

Jacques is also a veteran, having retired from the US Army several years ago. His military experience took him around the world, including deployments to Antarctica, several postings in Europe, and combat and war zone deployments to Iraq and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Before joining the Army, Jacques served in the US Navy, where during his last naval assignment, he was a co-anchor of the Navy’s flagship televised News and Information show – Navy News This Week, where he received a Department of Defense Thomas Jefferson Award for Broadcast Journalism excellence for a series he produced on Navy Seals. He was named Navy Broadcaster of the Year.

Jacques worked as an Anchor Reporter in several television markets including Pittsburgh, Pa, Indianapolis, In, and Little Rock, Ar., during his time as an Army Reservist and as a National Guardsman. He received several awards for outstanding journalism in television broadcasting and journalism, including several Cleveland Regional Emmy Nominations. The other awards and recognition were from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Radio and Television News Directors Association, and the Associated Press.

Jacques’ family relocated to Seattle from the New York City area four decades ago and he has considered the region home ever since. Jacques is a vibrant patron of the Seattle-area arts community and has written and performed a play addressing the scourge of military sexual trauma, based on his experienced and observations when he served in the Army.

Jacques has a BFA in Filmmaking, a BS in Communications, and has studied Art and Television and Cinematic History, extensively.
