The following is a list of the regional chairs for the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Member Bio
Janis Harper
Alaska Regional Chair

Janis Harper is the Assistant News Director at KTVA, the CBS affiliate in Anchorage, Alaska. She’s been there since 2013.

Janis’ journalism career started the month after she graduated from high school when she landed a daily assignment reporter gig for her local newspaper. She was later named the Editor of a weekly newspaper owned by the same company.

After working in print for a few years Janis made the transition to broadcast.

In her 10+ year career with Raycom Media she served as an editor, producer, Executive Producer and Assistant News Director. While working in Louisville, KY, Janis served on the Board of Governors for the Ohio Valley Chapter.

She currently holds a seat on the Alaska Press Club Board of Directors.

Jeremiah Slovarp
Bozeman Regional Chair
Jeremiah began his career as a location sound engineer on various films and commercials. In 2002 he started Jereco Studios designing his first commercial recording facility, and in the spring of 2010, he founded a second recording facility, Peach Street Studios.

Today, Jeremiah is responsible for producing and engineering Post Production Sound, Live Sound, Music Recording, and Location Sound to many shows and events nationally and regionally including, Music on Main, Music in the Mountains, and Sweet Pea Festival. In addition, in 2010 Jeremiah was appointed the Audio Director of the 11th & Grant with Eric Funk television series on MontanaPBS. In June 2011, Jeremiah earned an Emmy® Award for Audio for his work on the 11th & Grant TV show.

As a graduate of Montana State University - Bozeman, Jeremiah continues supporting, working, and teaching within the university system. Jeremiah is Adjunct Faculy at the School of Music where he teaches Entertainment Business, Music Technology, and is the Technical Director for the school and Reynolds Recital Hall.
Robin Wojtanik
Central WA Regional Chair

Robin Wojtanik has been News Director of KEPR and KIMA since 2006. She has spent 15 years in the news business, beginning in Palm Springs and including stops in Cleveland and Seattle before arriving in the Tri-Cities-Yakima market. Newscasts Robin has produced or supervised have been nominated for multiple Emmy® Awards. She has assisted with the regional board for two years.

Grendel Levy
Idaho Regional Chair

Grendel Levy has been with 6 On Your Side/Fox 9 since August 2011. She served as the Executive Producer for just more than 2 years before being promoted to News Director in November 2013.

Grendel comes to Idaho from her home state tof Louisiana, where she started as an intern and worked her way into a job as a news producer at WGNO, the Tribune ABC affiliate in New Orleans. She produced newscasts there for many years. She loved covering the news in the city where she was born and raised, even when the news hit a bit too close to home. She considers her coverage of Hurricane Katrina the biggest story of her career.

Grendel also worked for ABC affiliates in Biloxi, Mississippi and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She has a total of 19 years of experience in the news business as has served in various capacities from Assignment Editor to Reporter to Producer and she even spent some time as a newscast video editor.

Grendel graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor's degree in Communications.

Grendel & her husband Israel have been married for 8 years. They have 5 children, a 23 year old son (who also works in radio for Journal's Boise Group), a 22 year old, 7 year old twin daughters and a 4 year old little girl.

As much as she loves her family, she has a true passion for news and couldn't imagine doing anything else!

Denise Dowling
Missoula Regional Chair

Denise Dowling chairs the Radio-Television Department at the University of Montana where she's taught broadcast journalism since 2000. Dowling spent 20 years in television news in Montana, Colorado and Washington before heading to UM where she leads award-winning student news and documentary programs and spends her free time reporting and producing for MontanaPBS. Dowling was named the country's "Most Promising Professor" by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and won the Broadcast Education Association's "Best of Festival" honor for her radio reporting work. She recently earned a NATPE grant that will put her in Seattle's KING-5 newsroom for a month to study how digital platforms are impacting broadcast programming.

Brian MacMillan
Oregon Regional Chair

Brian is a meteorologist and news reporter for KPTV-FOX 12 in Portland. He joined the FOX 12 team in 2009.

Brian grew up north of Seattle and has lived in the Northwest most of his life. Brian graduated from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication and the Honors College at Washington State University. Brian also graduated with a B.S. in Meteorology from Mississippi State University and also holds a Broadcast Meteorology Certification.

Brian was honored with the Oregon Associated Press award for Best Weathercast and has several other awards for his work in news and weather.

Carla Miller
Oregon Regional Chair

Carla is the 11pm producer for KOIN 6 News in Portland, Oregon. She has been with KOIN for two years. Carla has been producing for stations across the Northwest since 2006, having worked in the Tri-Cities, Bend, and Spokane. A native Oregonian, she is delighted to be representing Portland and the Beaver State.

Morgan Holm
Portland Regional Chair

Morgan Holm is Senior Vice President and Chief Content Officer for Oregon Public Broadcasting in Portland. Morgan oversees all of OPB’s local production, including radio and digital news, three television programs and a local music service. He has been a reporter, assignment editor, producer, host and news director since joining OPB in 1990.

Morgan graduated from Southern Oregon University in Ashland with a BA in Communication. He started his journalism career at Jefferson Public Radio in 1986, and worked for KOBI-TV (NBC) in Medford as a producer and assignment editor before coming to OPB. He managed the news team that won a George F. Peabody award in 2009 for reporting on the effects of the Great Recession in Oregon.

Jerry Post
Spokane Regional Chair
Jerry has worked in television news for 10 years, at WXYZ in Detroit, WJRT in Flint, MI, and KXLY in Spokane, where he currently serves as assistant news director. He's also worked as assignment editor, producer, and writer, and has won Emmy® Awards for Best Newscast and Best Series, along with other regional awards.
