Joanne M. Lisosky is a professor of communication and journalism at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma where she teaches classes in communication law, international media and multimedia writing and production. She has served on the NATAS board since 1997. In a previous life she worked in television in Missoula, Montana; Reno, Nevada and Springfield, Missouri. She also dabbled in radio news and newspapers. She was awarded two Fulbright awards in 2003 and 2011 to teach journalism in Kampala, Uganda and Baku, Azerbaijan. Her book, "War on Words: Who Should Protect Journalists?" was published in 2011.
