May 2008
I guess I couldn’t resist.

I’ve signed up for two more years as President of the board of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences—Northwest Chapter! I’m delighted and honored to be doing so. The reason I got involved in NATAS in the first place is the same reason many of you are involved: Our organization is all about

The nominations are in.

And soon, we’ll see who gets to bring home the ‘hardware.’ It should be an incredible night. This year’s Northwest Emmys will be hosted by your favorite and mine: Pat Cashman! Son, Chris, will be producing the show. I can’t wait

Last year at this time, I was still reporting at KOMO 4 News. In fact, in my President’s Note in May of 2007, I gave a big thanks to General Manager Ross Davis and SCCTV for providing live streaming of the Emmy show. It was the first time we had ever streamed the Emmys. I wrote then, “I just googled SCCTV, and didn’t realize they were the first community college television station in the country to stream live and ‘fulltime’ on the internet.”

Here I am, one year later, and I feel so fortunate to be able to say that I'm the new General Manager at Seattle Community Colleges Television. Ross Davis is enjoying his retirement and thankfully still serving on the board. And speaking of our Board of Governors. They're an amazing group who work tirelessly on programs and events just for you! The next event? The Emmy Awards of course.

By now, hopefully, you’ve bought your tickets to the big show! To all the nominees, best of luck. See you June 7th .
