EMMY® Night Around the Corner
May 30 is just around the corner — EMMY® Night! It’s the night the National Television Academy of Arts and Sciences Northwest honors the year’s best work in the region. I hope by now you’re all aware that we’ll be holding the awards ceremony in a brand new location, at the Snoqualmie Casino. Just this week, I took a tour of the facility, and believe me, it’s impressive! I’m betting you’ll love it, too. We’re grateful to have Pat Cashman host the show again this year. As it was last year, it will be a family affair, with son Chris producing. We’re inducting two remarkable people into the Silver Circle. KGW anchor Tracy Barry is one of the most recognized and respected journalists in the Northwest. We’ll also induct reporter, writer and producer extraordinaire Greg Palmer into the Silver Circle. Greg is one of the great storytellers in the industry. I’ve always been amazed by Greg’s work and his compelling stories. He has set the bar high for all of us. And finally, we’re trying something new this year, and I think you’ll be pleased. Don’t get frustrated EMMY® Night when you get to see only 30 seconds of an entry and that’s it. Don’t you want to see more? Well now, you can as soon as you get home. Saturday night May 30, right after the last EMMY® is presented, we’ll post the winning entries — every last second — on our new and improved Web site, natasnw.org. From the 30- second promo to the one-hour documentary, you’ll get to see the best work of the Northwest produced in 2008. See you real soon. John Sharify President NATAS Northwest |
