Kathi GoertzenKathi started her broadcast career in college as a news and feature reporter for KWSU. That was in 1978. From there, Kathi interned at both KOMO-TV and KREM-TV in 1979. KOMO managers quickly saw her potential and hired her as a production assistant in 1980. She became a reporter trainee in 1980 and a full time reporter in 1981. Kathi was promoted to weekend anchor in 1982 and to the main anchor position in 1987.

Kathi has covered countless local stories in Seattle throughout the years and has been honored with a variety of awards including several Emmys. She has interviewed some of Seattle's most influential people from government leaders to Bill Gates. Kathi was the only journalist to sit down for a one-on-one interview with John Stanford as he battled terminal cancer.

She has graciously and professionally shared her own battle with illness when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She included the viewers in every facet of the story from the difficult surgeries to the long recovery.

Long ago Kathi made the decision to do more than report on the wrongs she witnessed. She chose to help. Kathi has always given back to her community and those in need. She has emceed countless events for dozens of organizations. She also served as an active board member for the YWCA and the Children's Hospital Foundation for many years.
