Patsy SmullinPatsy Smullin is the president and owner of California Oregon Broadcasting, Inc. (COBI), which her father founded in 1933. It is the longest continuously operated, independent broadcast organization in the West, having served Oregon and Northern California for over seven decades. It includes five television stations in Oregon, four cable television operations in central and eastern Oregon, and COBI Digital HD, a video production company.

Her career in television has been both as an administrator and a practitioner of the art, with experience both behind and in front of the camera. Her recurring television program, Up Close with Patsy Smullin, has featured interviews with some of the most intriguing people in America, including television stars, first ladies, network anchors, musicians, scientists and politicians.

Patsy has served as president of the Oregon Association of Broadcasters, president of the Oregon Cable TV Association and as a board member of the National Association of Broadcasters and the NBC TV Affiliate Board. She and her dad are the only father-daughter team to have served on the NAB Television board. Patsy, like her dad, is known for the foresight and wisdom to make small market broadcast outlets be all they can be and for consistently providing community service to individuals throughout the west via the broadcast medium.

Over the years, Patsy has consistently given back to the communities and people her broadcast company serves. She has been an active member of national, state and local boards. Current boards include The World Affairs Council of Oregon, AAA Oregon/Idaho, Oregon Children’s Foundation, Southern Oregon University Board and Willamette University Board. She has been recognized with countless awards, including the 2007 National Broadcaster’s Foundation Pioneer Award in April.
