In the 1950's, Bosley worked as a Hollywood film producer for the Lisle Sheldon Advertising Agency. In 1958 he moved on to Klamath Falls, Oregon to work for KOTI-TV. Jim then moved on to Portland, Oregon to join KATU in 1962, just four months after the independent station went on the air. He started as KATU's promotion manager but after filling in for a vacationing weatherman, the Boz stayed with the rain and shine for 33 years, becoming KATU's Chief Meteorologist. In 1975, Jim discovered another calling, talk show host. He helped create one of the nation's longest running live local talk shows, AM Northwest. The show became a Northwest magnet, drawing notable personalities from all over the country, mostly to experience the spontaneous style of Jim Bosley. Today, Jim spends his retirement with his family, serves as ambassador to the Fiji islands, and is presently the resident artist at the Lawrence Gallery in Portland. And although the Boz isn't a daily fixture on the television set, we're all a little luckier for the 33 years of sunshine he gave us. Welcome into the Silver Circle, Boz! |
